Maryam has aspirations to be an oncologist. She worked as an intern at TGen, studying and conducting research on brain tumors in pediatric patients, and volunteering at Mayo Clinic Hospital and Dignity Health Cancer Institute.
She says, “No one is born happy. We can create happiness by finding a true passion and serving our community.”
Maryam has seen firsthand how by working together you can achieve more. She’s also been involved with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for several years. During the 2024 campaign, she led a team of 20 students and raised more than $109,000 in just seven weeks. She is also President of the National Honor Society and led a schoolwide canned food drive that resulted in over 690,000 cans collected in four weeks. Their hard work, ambition and perseverance led them to break the previous 40 year school record for raising the most amount of cans ever.
Maryam has a 4.0 GPA and enjoys participating in the Varsity Speech and Debate team. This year Maryam became the state champion in Original Oratory. She also serves as the Vice President of the Medical Explorers Club Deer Valley, Co-Chair in the LLS Student Visionaries of the Year and former Vice President of Volunteers of Phoenix Children’s Foundation Teen Council. She will be a pre-med student at Harvard University in Fall 2025. She looks forward to using her passion to serve and help others through her career as a doctor.
